Let’s strip it!

BW Offshore has contracted PG Flow Solutions to deliver a hydraulically driven pump solution complete with control system for stripping of bilge tanks at the Espoir Ivoirien FPSO.

The delivery is part of BW Offshore’s FPSO lifetime extension programme, and was triggered out of a creative process between the parties. The 155,000 dwt Espoir Ivoirien FPSO was converted to FPSO at Keppel Singapore in 2001, and has been working for Canadian CNR International at the Ivory Coast ever since.

PG Flow Solutions’ system delivery consists of a hydraulically driven twin screw pump with 6.5 bar differential pressure and a capacity of 100 m3 per hour, and a complete hydraulic power unit that is fully integrated with the vessel’s control system, enabling both remote and local control.

“The complete system has been designed and fabricated in-house. As technical manager, it is great to see the different departments of the company coming together to deliver an end-product that the client is satisfied with, in such a short timeframe,” says Kjetil Vatne, technical manager at PG Flow Solutions.

In January, PG Flow Solutions and personnel from BW Offshore’s Oslo office ran a successful full-scale test at PG’s facility in Sande, Norway, achieving full system certification from DNV-GL. Commissioning of the system is planned for May this year. PG has since then secured further work from BW Offshore, as part of the close cooperation between the companies.
