PG secures new wellboat pump deals

Liquid handling and pump specialist PG Flow Solutions (PG) secures new wellboat contracts for its high capacity seawater circulation pumps

PG Flow Solutions will deliver the seawater circulation pumps to Sefine Shipyard in Turkey, which are building two wellboats for DESS Aquaculture Shipping, a joint venture between Marine Harvest and Solstad-Farstad. PG Flow Solutions will provide the seawater circulation pumps as a sub-supplier to Cflow Fish Handling, which is contracted to deliver the complete fish handling system for the two wellboats. Cflow Fish Handling is based in Langevaag near Aalesund, Norway.

The two live fish carriers will be 84.4m long and have a beam of 16.0m, and a fish well capacity of more than 3500m3. The cargo space is equipped with under-pressure loading system with water separation and grading as well as sliding bulkhead and over-pressure off-loading system.

PG Flow Solutions will deliver a large low pressure pump system to each of the two wellboats. The pump system will ensure continuous seawater circulation in the boat’s well to enable transport of live fish, primarily salmon from fish farms. The circulation system has a total capacity of 28,000 cubic metres seawater per hour.

PG Flow Solutions’ contract value is undisclosed. The two vessels will be delivered from the shipyard in 2019.

“We have a good cooperation with Cflow Fish Handling on numerous aquaculture projects, so we are very pleased to get the opportunity to work with them again. Our seawater circulation pump can easily be maintained by the wellboat vessel crew, so it is a cost-effective solution that saves time and money and ensures good animal welfare,” says Roy Norum, CEO of PG Flow Solutions.

The vessels are designed to significantly enhance fish welfare, hygiene, quality and environmental aspects. Norwegian company Salt Ship Design has designed the vessels.

PG Flow Solutions provides proprietary solutions, systems and products for companies within the aquaculture, maritime, energy, and land-based process industries. The heritage of the business is pumps and pumping systems. Its headquarter is based at Hvalstad, Asker, Norway, with main manufacturing sites located in Sande, Vestfold, Norway, and Worcester, UK. The company also has a fabrication site in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and a service set-up in Ningbo, China.
