PG signs pump contracts with Aas Mekaniske

Liquid handling and pump specialist PG Flow Solutions (PG) has entered into contracts with Aas Mekaniske Verksted to deliver pump systems to the wellboat the shipyard is building for leading wellboat company Sølvtrans.

PG Flow Solutions has signed a deal to deliver a large low pressure pump system that ensures continuous seawater circulation in the boat’s well to enable transport of live fish, primarily salmon from fish farms. The circulation system has a total capacity of 16,000 cubic meters seawater per hour.

In addition, PG has signed a separate contract to supply all engine room pumps that are required for the main engine and support engines, plus generic pump requirements for operating the wellboat.

Contract values have not been disclosed.

“Our seawater circulation pump was chosen because it is compact and robust and high efficiency levels. They are also easy to maintain. The vessel crew can easily maintain the pumps themselves, without support from an external service technician. This saves both time and cost for the vessel owner, and ensures excellent animal welfare,” says Roy Norum, CEO of PG Flow Solutions.

PG Flow Solutions will deliver the pump systems in question during the third quarter of 2018. The vessel is the 29th that wellboat company Sølvtrans has ordered from Aas Mekaniske Verksted, which is located at Vestnes in Møre and Romsdal county, Norway.

The newbuild vessel will be the yard’s own, new AAS 2502 ST design, which is 69.69 metres long and 17.80 metres wide.  Depth moulded is 5.90 metres. The design is adapted to the wellboat company’s circulation principle of sideways circulation in the cargo spaces as well as closed transport. The wellboat has two cargo spaces totaling 2,500m3, the equivalent of 375 tonnes of live fish distributed across the two wells, which are equipped with sliding bulkheads and pressure loading and unloading system. The boat will manage both transport, sorting and processing of fish.

Aas Mekaniske Verksted’s contract with Sølvtrans includes an option for an additional sister vessel. PG Flow Solutions has a corresponding option with Aas Mekaniske Verksted for delivery of similar pump systems.

PG Flow Solutions provides proprietary solutions, systems and products for companies within the aquaculture, maritime, energy, and land-based process industries. The heritage of the business is pumps and pumping systems. Its headquarter is based at Hvalstad, Asker, Norway, with main manufacturing sites located in Sande, Vestfold, Norway, and Worcester, UK. The company also has a fabrication site in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and a service set-up in Ningbo, China.
